To replace or supplement maternal colostrum in newborn lambs and kids.
Feeding Recommendations
- All lambs and kids should get their first colostrum feeding within 2 hours after birth, followed by two additional feedings, ideally within the first 18 hours of life.
- Each feeding is based on body weight. Feed the appropriate amount described in the chart below. Calculate 15% of bodyweight as colostrum quantity to feed within the first 18 hours.
- Temperature of mixing water should be43–49°C. When fed, colostrum should be close to the lamb/kid’s body temperature.
